Biography

About Canaan J. Harris

Canaan J. Harris is a New York City-based composer, pianist, and music director whose work spans new musical development, cabaret, regional theater, and arts education. He holds a master’s degree in Music Composition from Binghamton University and was part of the inaugural class of the Musical Creators Institute.

Canaan has music directed at 54 Below, The Green Room 42, Cortland Repertory Theatre, Theater Aspen, and other venues around the country. His original projects include Boys, Boys, Behave!, Plane Girl, and Elaine?!; he also received the SUNY PACC Prize for his Pocket Opera Project, which develops short operas from stories written by middle-school students.
